All spark plugs used from 1955 through 1970 had 14-mm threads with a 13/16 hex and flat seat with a soft metal washer. Beginning in 1971 a new spark plug was used which still had 14 mm threads but a smaller 5/8 hex and a tapered seat. These new 5/8 Hex plugs are called the "Peanut Plug"
